NOTHING CAN TAKE THE PLACE OF TORAH STUDY - IT IS FORBBIDEN TO LEAVE THE STUDY HALL FOR ANY REASON
The Gaon, the Rav Eliezer Berland Shlita - Ashdod and Yara 5765
Did Moshe Rabbeinu Want Us To Be Kibbutzniks?
Moreino, the Gaon, the Rav Eliezer Berland Shlita came to give Zechut (merit) to many in Ashdod, where he delivered his holy words.
"Moshe Rebbeinu said," And when you come into the land, and have planted all kind of fruit trees for food, then you shall count the fruit thereof as forbidden; three years shall it be as forbidden unto you; it shall not be eaten. "(Leviticus 19:23).
If Israel did not understand and wonder, what? Did Moshe want us to be Moshavniks?! Are we Kibbutznikim ?! However, Moshe meant that the fruits grown in Eretz Yisrael each weigh a ton, as it is written,
"Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washeth his garments in wine, and his vesture in the blood of grapes;." (Bereshit 49:11)
Each grape would fill a whole ship, it was written that they would bring up a cabbage on the ladder, all this thanks to Torah study.
It is written that a few days went by and Resh Lakish did not show up to the Yeshiva. So when he finally came back, Rabbi Yochanan asked him, what was the reason for his absence, to that he replied that he had gone to harvest grapes. Rabbi Yochanan then asked him and how were the grapes. To which he answered that on the first day the fruits were fine, then on the second day they diminished and on the third day they diminished even more. Then it was said to him that the fruit kept diminishing because he left the Yeshivah (the Hall of study) to for the sake of that harvest.
"Shevet Zevulun (Tribe) used to come down on ships and bring with them of the great fruits of the land, and all the nations of the world would wonder and ask, what is it? Do you people have some kind of special institutes to achieve such success in agriculture?! And they used to respond, no this all due to the merit of learning Torah. And people used to come up from all the nations to become Gerim (converts). "
It is written that Rashbi (Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, Zt”l) came out of the cave and everywhere he looked immediately burned, so the Lord told him: What is this? Is it to destroy the world that you went out? " And he told him to go back to your cave for another year. He had been that cave for 12 years already, but he went back and then came out after another full year had past. "
The lesson with all these goes to teach us that "One has to tie himself to the bench to keep him in his study all day in order to learn. There is nothing else to do, nothing is worth it for you turn around leaving your Torah study."
"Now that it is the 15 of Cheshvan (Tu Chesvan) the Yahrzeit of the Chazon Ish (the man of vision), let's everyone be like the Chazon Ish, everyone has to learn 18 hours of Torah. So that we all be be like the Chazon Ish, and now go to the Kever (the grave) of the Chazon Ish.
""Must not live outside."
