The reason why it is necessary to recite ten psalms is that there are ten kinds of song corresponding to the ten expressions of song and praise on which the book of Psalms is based… Each of these expressions has the power to nullify the power of [the force of impurity also called Evil forces or Tumah] because each of them is the direct opposite of [that force]. Ashrei, for example, is an expression for sight and vision, the opposite of the [force of impurity], whose main strength lies in damaging people’s vision… Similarly, Halleluyah, an expression of praise and joy… is the opposite of yelalah [the wailing of frustrated desire which stems from sadness]… They are Psalms numbers: 16, 32, 41, 42, 59, 77, 90, 105, 137, 150.” (Rebbe Nachman’s Tikkun, p.35, based on Likutei Moharan I:205)
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO ME?
The source for the concept of ten types of song in Psalms is ancient—it goes all the way back to the Talmud and is recorded in Rashi’s commentary and other places. And throughout the generations, there were other great tzaddikim who longed to reveal the ten chapters that embody the concentrated essence of the entire book of Psalms in order to help the world, but no one was given this gift until Rebbe Nachman received it toward the end of his life. In other lessons, Rebbe Nachman explains the relationship between sadness and personal impurity; when a person feels cut off from G-d and low, he is more vulnerable to temptation, and this in turn makes him feel even further from his Creator. The main remedy for all sins, not only those of a sexual nature, is in rediscovering our joyful connection with G-d. This is what the ten psalms of the Tikkun Haklali best express.
I am connecting myself in saying the ten chapters of Tehilim to all the true Tzaddikim that are in our generation, and to all the true Tzaddikim resting in dust; especially to our Holy Rabbi, Tzadik Yesod Olam, The “Flowing Brook, a Fountain of Wisdom” (Prov. 18:4) our Rabbi Nachman ben Feiga who revealed this Tikkun. May his merit protect us and all Yisrael, Amen.
A PRAYER: Master of the universe… Your love is overflowing, Your generosity never ceases. Look upon me with favour. Let me be worYourof awakening the ten forms of song With which the book of Psalms was composed; Let me be worYourof seeing those forms of song revealed… You who bring joy to those who are sore at heart, bring joy to my crushed spirit…
Remove from me sadness and grief. Rejoice the soul of Your servant… “Awaken my glory, awaken, harp and lyre. I shall awaken the dawn.” (Rebbe Nachman’s Tikkun, p. 39 and 53, from Reb Nosson’s prayer that follows the Tikkun Haklali)
THE TEN PSALMS:
Prayers of the heart, the words we speak in hitbodedut should be said in our own languages. Prayers from the siddurs, taught to us by our Sages and Rabbis should be recited in Hebrew. Nevertheless if one cannot read Hebrew he is still merited for saying the equivalence in English. (The Ten Psalms in English can be found in an English – Hebrew Psalms book; the chapters are: 16, 32, 41, 42, 59, 77, 90, 105, 137, 150.)

Translation:
Oh Eternal, Ribono shel Olam, our G-D and the G-d of our fathers, you are the one who can do all things: Who chooses King David and his descendants; who chooses songs and praises. Please turn to me in mercy and accept the Psalms I am going to say as if King David himself were saying them, and let his merit protect us.
There is merit in every verse of the Psalms and in every word, in their letters, vowels and notes and in all the holy names spelled out by the first and last letters of each Hebrew word.
Let this merit stand in our favor to atone for our sins and transgressions, cut down our enemies and accusers on High, and destroy all the thorns and thistles surrounding the Supernal Rose. Send down blessing from Your exalted place to all the levels of our soul and spirit, to purify us from our sins, forgive our transgressions and atone for our rebellion, just as You forgave King David who recited these psalms before You. “And G-D will cause your sin to pass away and you will not die” (II Samuel 12:13).
Do not take us from this world before our time. Give us a full life throughout our span of seventy years so that we can make amends for all the wrong we have done.
May the merit of King David protect us, and be patient with us until we return to You in perfect repentance.
Grant us blessing from Your treasury of open-handed generosity, as it is written: “I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy” (Exodus 33:19). Just as we sing before You in this world, grant us the privilege of singing before You, oh Eternal G-D, in the World to Come.
Through our recital of the psalms, let pleasant song break forth with rejoicing and exultation. Let glory be given to Israel; and splendor and beauty shall be in the House of G-D. Bring it speedily in our days, Amen.
Before reciting the Tikkun HaKlali, it is good to say the following:
לְכוּ נְרַנְּנָה לַיהֹוָה, נָרִיעָה לְצוּר יִשְׁעֵנוּ: נְקַדְּמָה פָּנָיו בְּתוֹדָה, בִּזְמִרוֹת נָרִיעַ לוֹ: כִּי אֵל גָּדוֹל יְהֹוָה, וּמֶלֶךְ גָּדוֹל עַל כָּל אֱלֹהִים:

Translation:
In saying these ten psalms I am binding myself to all the true Tzaddikim in this generation and all the true Tzaddikim who have departed, "the holy ones who are in the earth", and especially our holy Rebbe, Tzaddik, foundation of the world, the "flowing brook, source of wisdom", Rabbi Nachman the son of Feiga, (may his merit protect us,) who revealed this remedy.
Come let us sing to God, let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us sing to Him joyously in song. For God is a great God and a great King over all gods (Psalms 95:1-3).
I prepare my mouth to give thanks and praise to my Creator, to unify the Holy One, blessed-be-he, and His Shechinah in awe and love, through the Hidden and Concealed One, in the name of all Israel.

Psalms Chapter 16

(16) 1 Michtam of David. Keep me, O God; for I have taken refuge in You. 2 I have said unto the Eternal: 'You are my God; I have no good but in You'; 3 As for the holy that are in the earth, they are the excellent in whom is all my delight. 4 Let the idols of them be multiplied that make suit unto another; their drink-offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take their names upon my lips. 5 O Eternal, the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup, You maintainest my lot. 6 The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. 7 I will bless the Eternal, who hath given me counsel; yea, in the night seasons my reins instruct me. 8 I have set the Eternal always before me; surely He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth; my flesh also dwelleth in safety; 10 For You wilt not abandon my soul to the nether-world; neither wilt You suffer Your godly one to see the pit. 11 You makest me to know the path of life; in Your presence is fulness of joy, in Your right hand bliss for evermore.
Psalms Chapter 32
(32) 1 [A Psalm] of David. Maskil. Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is pardoned. 2 Happy is the man unto whom the Eternal counteth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. 3 When I kept silence, my bones wore away through my groaning all the day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; my sap was turned as in the droughts of summer. Selah 5 I acknowledged my sin unto You, and mine iniquity have I not hid; I said: 'I will make confession concerning my transgressions unto the Eternal' and You , You forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah 6 For this let every one that is godly pray unto You in a time when You mayest be found; surely, when the great waters overflow, they will not reach unto him. 7 You are my hiding-place; You wilt preserve me from the adversary; with songs of deliverance You wilt compass me about. Selah 8 'I will instruct You and teach You in the way which You shalt go; I will give counsel, Mine eye being upon You.' 9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding; whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, that they come not near unto You. 10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked; but he that trusteth in the Eternal, mercy compasseth him about. 11 Be glad in the Eternal, and rejoice, ye righteous; and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
Psalms Chapter 41
(41) 1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David. 2 Happy is he that considereth the poor; the Eternal will deliver him in the day of evil. 3 The Eternal preserve him, and keep him alive, let him be called happy in the land; and deliver not You him unto the greed of his enemies. 4 The Eternal support him upon the bed of illness; mayest You turn all his lying down in his sickness. 5 As for me, I said: 'O Eternal, be gracious unto me; heal my soul; for I have sinned against You.' 6 Mine enemies speak evil of me: 'When shall he die, and his name perish?' 7 And if one come to see me, he speaketh falsehood; his heart gathereth iniquity to itself; when he goeth abroad, he speaketh of it. 8 All that hate me whisper together against me, against me do they devise my hurt: 9 'An evil thing cleaveth fast unto him; and now that he lieth, he shall rise up no more.' 10 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me. 11 But You , O Eternal, be gracious unto me, and raise me up, that I may requite them. 12 By this I know that You delightest in me, that mine enemy doth not triumph over me. 13 And as for me, You upholdest me because of mine integrity, and settest me before Your face for ever. 14 Blessed be the Eternal, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen.

(42) 1 For the Leader; Maskil of the sons of Korach. 2 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after You, O God. 3 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: 'When shall I come and appear before God?' 4 My tears have been my food day and night, while they say unto me all the day: 'Where is Your God?' 5 These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, how I passed on with the throng, and led them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping holyday. 6 Why art You cast down, O my soul? and why moanest You within me? Hope You in God; for I shall yet praise Him for the salvation of His countenance. 7 O my God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore do I remember You from the land of Jordan, and the Hermons, from the hill Mizar. 8 Deep calleth unto deep at the voice of Your cataracts; all Yourwaves and Yourbillows are gone over me. 9 By day the Eternal will command His lovingkindness, and in the night His song shall be with me, even a prayer unto the God of my life. 10 I will say unto God my Rock: 'Why hast You forgotten me? Why go I mourning under the oppression of the enemy?' 11 As with a crushing in my bones, mine adversaries taunt me; while they say unto me all the day: 'Where is Your God?' 12 Why art You cast down, O my soul? and why moanest You within me? Hope You in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the salvation of my countenance, and my God.

(59) 1 For the Leader; Al-tashchet. [A Psalm] of David; Michtam; when Shaul sent, and they watched the house to kill him. 2 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God; set me on high from them that rise up against me. 3 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from the men of blood. 4 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul; the impudent gather themselves together against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Eternal. 5 Without my fault, they run and prepare themselves; awake to help me, and behold. 6 You therefore, O Eternal God of hosts, the God of Israel, arouse Yourself to punish all the nations; show no mercy to any iniquitous traitors. Selah 7 They return at evening, they howl like a dog, and go round about the city. 8 Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips: 'For who does hear?' 9 But You , O Eternal, shalt laugh at them; You shalt have all the nations in derision. 10 Because of his strength, I will wait for You; for God is my high tower. 11 The God of my mercy will come to meet me; God will let me gaze upon mine adversaries. 12 Slay them not, lest my people forget, make them wander to and fro by Your power, and bring them down, O Eternal our shield. 13 For the sin of their mouth, and the words of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride, and for cursing and lying which they speak. 14 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they be no more; and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob, unto the ends of the earth. Selah 15 And they return at evening, they howl like a dog, and go round about the city; 16 They wander up and down to devour, and tarry all night if they have not their fill. 17 But as for me, I will sing of Your strength; yea, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; for You hast been my high tower, and a refuge in the day of my distress. 18 O my strength, unto You will I sing praises; for God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

(77) 1 For the Leader; for Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaf. 2 I will lift up my voice unto God, and cry; I will lift up my voice unto God, that He may give ear unto me. 3 In the day of my trouble I seek the Eternal; with my hand uplifted, [mine eye] streameth in the night without ceasing; my soul refuseth to be comforted. 4 When I think thereon, O God, I must moan; when I muse thereon, my spirit fainteth. Selah 5 You holdest fast the lids of mine eyes; I am troubled, and cannot speak. 6 I have pondered the days of old, the years of ancient times. 7 In the night I will call to remembrance my song; I will commune with mine own heart; and my spirit maketh diligent search: 8 'Will the Eternal cast off for ever? And will He be favourable no more? 9 Is His mercy clean gone for ever? Is His promise come to an end for evermore? 10 Hath God forgotten to be gracious? Hath He in anger shut up his compassions?' Selah 11 And I say: 'This is my weakness, that the right hand of the Most High could change. 12 I will make mention of the deeds of the Eternal; yea, I will remember Your wonders of old. 13 I will meditate also upon all Your work, and muse on Your doings.' 14 O God, Your way is in holiness; who is a great god like unto God? 15 You are the God that does wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples. 16 You have with Your arm redeemed Your people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah 17 The waters saw You, O God; the waters saw You, they were in pain; the depths also trembled. 18 The clouds flooded forth waters; the skies sent out a sound; Your arrows also went abroad. 19 The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; the lightnings lighted up the world; the earth trembled and shook. 20 Your way was in the sea, and Your path in the great waters, and Your footsteps were not known. 21 You did lead Your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

(90) 1 A Prayer of Moshe the man of God. Eternal, You hast been our dwelling-place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. 3 You turnest man to contrition; and sayest: 'Return, ye children of men.' 4 For a thousand years in Your sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. 5 You carry them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep; in the morning they are like grass which groweth up. 6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth. 7 For we are consumed in Thine anger, and by Your wrath are we hurried away. 8 You hast set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. 9 For all our days are passed away in Your wrath; we bring our years to an end as a tale that is told. 10 The days of our years are seventy years, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet is their pride but travail and vanity; for it is speedily gone, and we fly away. 11 Who knoweth the power of Thine anger, and Your wrath according to the fear that is due unto You? 12 So teach us to number our days, that we may get us a heart of wisdom. 13 Return, O Eternal; how long? And let it repent You concerning Your servants. 14 O satisfy us in the morning with Your mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 15 Make us glad according to the days wherein You hast afflicted us, according to the years wherein we have seen evil. 16 Let Your work appear unto Your servants, and Your glory upon their children. 17 And let the graciousness of the Eternal our God be upon us; establish You also upon us the work of our hands; yea, the work of our hands establish You it.

(105) 1 O give thanks unto the Eternal, call upon His name; make known His doings among the peoples. 2 Sing unto Him, sing praises unto Him; speak ye of all His marvellous works. 3 Glory ye in His holy name; let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Eternal. 4 Seek ye the Eternal and His strength; seek His face continually. 5 Remember His marvellous works that He hath done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth; 6 O ye seed of Abraham His servant, ye children of Jacob, His chosen ones. 7 He is the Eternal our God; His judgments are in all the earth. 8 He hath remembered His covenant for ever, the word which He commanded to a thousand generations; 9 [The covenant] which He made with Abraham, and His oath unto Isaac; 10 And He established it unto Jacob for a statute, to Israel for an everlasting covenant; 11 Saying: 'Unto You will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.' 12 When they were but a few men in number. Yea, very few, and sojourners in it, 13 And when they went about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people, 14 He suffered no man to do them wrong, yea, for their sake He reproved kings: 15 'Touch not Mine Mashiachs (anointed ones), and do My prophets no harm.' 16 And He called a famine upon the land; He broke the whole staff of bread. 17 He sent a man before them; Joseph was sold for a servant; 18 His feet they hurt with fetters, his person was laid in iron; 19 Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the Eternal tested him. 20 The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the peoples, and set him free. 21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his possessions; 22 To bind his princes at his pleasure, and teach his elders wisdom. 23 Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. 24 And He increased His people greatly, and made them too mighty for their adversaries. 25 He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants. 26 He sent Moses His servant, and Aaron whom He had chosen. 27 They wrought among them His manifold signs, and wonders in the land of Ham. 28 He sent darkness, and it was dark; and they rebelled not against His word. 29 He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish. 30 Their land swarmed with frogs, in the chambers of their kings. 31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats in all their borders. 32 He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land. 33 He smote their vines also and their fig-trees; and broke the trees of their borders. 34 He spoke, and the locust came, and the canker-worm without number, 35 And did eat up every herb in their land, and did eat up the fruit of their ground. 36 He smote also all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their strength. 37 And He brought them forth with silver and gold; and there was none that stumbled among His tribes. 38 Egypt was glad when they departed; for the fear of them had fallen upon them. 39 He spread a cloud for a screen; and fire to give light in the night. 40 They asked, and He brought quails, and gave them in plenty the bread of heaven. 41 He opened the rock, and waters gushed out; they ran, a river in the dry places. 42 For He remembered His holy word unto Abraham His servant; 43 And He brought forth His people with joy, His chosen ones with singing. 44 And He gave them the lands of the nations, and they took the labour of the peoples in possession; 45 That they might keep His statutes, and observe His laws. Hallelujah.

(137) 1 By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion. 2 Upon the willows in the midst thereof we hanged up our harps. 3 For there they that led us captive asked of us words of song, and our tormentors asked of us mirth: 'Sing us one of the songs of Zion.' 4 How shall we sing the Eternal'S song in a foreign land? 5 If I forget You, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. 6 Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I remember You not; if I set not Jerusalem above my chiefest joy. 7 Remember, O Eternal, against the children of Edom the day of Jerusalem; who said: 'Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.' 8 O daughter of Babylon, that are to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that repayeth you as you have served us. 9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth Your little ones against the rock.

Prayer for a good memory & for the merit to recite Tikkun Haklali regularly
Rabbi Berland’s Prayer For A Good Memory
FOR A GOOD MEMORY
Master or the world, who can do anything. Give me a good memory, and may I have the best memory possible.
Infuse me with the soul of our Rebbe (268), Rabbi Nachman (148) son (52) of Simcha (353) son (52) of Faiga (94) = 967.
Also may the angels Nuriel (297), Gavriel (246), Rephael (317), and Michael (107) = 967, be infused in me. And may I merit entering Gan Eden =177, while still in my body.
And may I finish the whole book of Tehilim every single day, and merit saying Tikun Haklalli day and night =177.
